Looking at this I instantly think of pores. They seem to be some sort of fungi or bacteria sprouting out some sort of gas out into the air. I imagine these holes opening fairly wide and strongly shooting toxic fumes into the air. They also seem extremely delicate, like they're made of some sort of alien jelly. These could even be poisonous pores as they don't look the most friendly or healthy. They have these weird sprouting stems around them also.

Looking at this image I can visualize the branches growing out almost elegantly. There seems to be pink petals also growing from these branches. It doesn't look too much like a tree though, it reminds me of a nervous system. A complex of nerves. I can picture the petals slowly blowing in the wind. This picture seems to be more peaceful and whimsical. It also seems to be in some sort of dark world.
